Pilot-Program

In early April, the Gallop Forward Foundation and Rancho Saex began our partnership with the start of our pilot program. We invited five students from the local community in Jilotepec to join our project and begin their journey with natural horsemanship. Since the first day, the principle of communicating with your horse in a calm and respectful manner have been taught. The students began their course with indidivual lessons, focusing on the bond between horse and rider, in addition to allowing our two Mexican trainers Jose Saex and Sabrina Viloria to tailor each individuals needs to a specific curriculum. After each student achieved a foundational knowledge of horsemanship, more complicated concepts were introduced, as well as starting group lessons for a fun learning enviroment and using the skills they’ve acquired with the other students. Having completed our pilot program, we have created an established plan which can be adapted to each new students needs. On July 6th we officially launched our project, and though the intial trial is over, we will continue learning and improving our operations to achieve our shared mission of creating a positive community for kids and teenagers to enjoy horsemanship while learning skills which can applied to all parts of their lives.
